  • Hi Juju.

I'm still learning so I'm using the wall because I don´t know if there's a better way to comunicate inside the wiki.

I was talking with DEZ in Discord. He just put a link to the wiki in the main page of the site. I think that it will attract readers and people willing to edit,  and there's a thing I wanted to check with you.

I noticed that most of what is in the wiki (like character pages) is Cut and Paste from the official site. I don't know it too well, but far as I know there's a Fandom general rule about to not do that. One should at least rephrase it.

My concern is that, if the wiki is about to have more contributos, then the rules need to be clear since the start, otherwise things can get out of hand.

    What do you think?

    • Yeah, I guess I should write some guidelines. Sure, most pages are copy-pasted from the official site (I think Dez did not mind about that as he helped, but that's definitely something to keep in mind in the future), but it's meant to be improved upon and to establish the general layout of the wiki, e.g. on the character pages you can add their story so far, bits of trivia, explain their relationship with other characters, etc., but you can definitely improve everything that is already there (other than keeping quotes attributed to Dez verbatim, if you change it I guess it's no longer a quote).

So far, the one guideline I have is to keep more or less the same layout between similar pages and from there, I think it should be self-explanatory, or if not I guess you can always clean up after someone's edit. For the rest, I don't think we need a lot of rules so far other than the usual "don't be a dick and don't abuse", but I guess we can always add some if there's something that isn't clear.

If anything, each page have their wall, so if you have a question there's that or there's a discuss section for more general stuff, so ask away :)

    • Ok.

Years ago I wanted to create a wiki and so I read a fair amount about what and how. I have forgotten most of it but I'm rereading now.

I'm willing to contribute with the wiki, editing, creating, or expanding, and I thought it was better to coordinate with you, if that's fine.

I do not remember how much enforced the "no copy-paste" is by Fandom itself, but I asked about it because being the owner you have the last word about what is done or not with the wiki, so if the wiki allows copy-paste or not is, at the moment, up to you really.

    • Yeah, at the moment, it's not super enforced, I think the "no copy-paste" is a matter of copyright, so the final word about that is with Dez. But even then, you're encouraged to make the descriptions longer and more detailed than whatever he has on his site (other than author's notes which is pretty much quoting Dez himself, but even then you can add another longer section about the history of the character, then remove the author's notes section if and when it's gonna be redundant).

Other than that, I guess we'll see as we go, I agree it's better if everything is coordinated with each other, but feel free to add some of your ideas already :)
